Step 1: Cleanse Your Face
Begin with a clean canvas. Wash your face with a gentle cleanser to remove any dirt, oil, or makeup. Pat your skin dry with a soft towel.
Step 2: Apply Moisturizer
If you use a moisturizer, apply it before your sunscreen. Allow the moisturizer to absorb fully into your skin. This step is essential to keep your skin hydrated and to create a smooth base for the sunscreen.
Step 3: Apply Sunscreen
Take a generous amount of sunscreen (about a nickel-sized dollop) and dot it evenly across your face – on your forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin. Remember to include your neck and ears.
Step 4: Spread Evenly
Gently spread the sunscreen across your face and neck using your fingertips. Ensure that it covers all exposed areas evenly. Be careful around the eyes, but don't neglect the eyelids and the area under the eyes.
Step 5: Blend into the Skin
Blend the sunscreen thoroughly into your skin until it is fully absorbed. This may take a few moments. Make sure there are no visible streaks or white residue left behind.
Step 6: Reapply as Needed
Reapply sunscreen every two hours, or immediately after swimming, sweating, or towel drying. For daily use, consider reapplying at midday to maintain protection, especially if you are spending extended periods outdoors.
